Hispanic Association of Free Will Baptists
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
Who can attend?
This Youth conference is purposely aimed to reach our young people which is why it is called a Youth Conference. Young people starting in 6th grade up to our college-aged kids are whom RISE is designed for. Parents and Grandparents, we love you, and that is why we are happy to give you the day off! Come drop off your young people and go enjoy the day knowing that they are spending it hearing solid Biblical teaching. We strongly recommend that the only adults that are present are the ones who are volunteering. The reason for this is to invest in our young people and provide something that is designed for them.
1.
What do I bring?
I can’t recommend enough that you bring your Bible. During the course of the day, we will be diving into Scripture and we want you to be able to participate. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “I have a Bible app on my phone so I’m covered.” That may be true, but you know what else you have on your phone? Distractions. At RYC we want you to focus on the Scriptures and the message of the speakers. Our phones can be great tools but they can also be a big distraction. We recommend that you bring an actual Bible so that you can avoid those distractions.
The next thing you need to bring is something to write with. We want to encourage you to take notes and make sure that you write down things you want to research later or things that you found really interesting. Taking notes becomes very difficult to do without something to write with. I know what you’re thinking. “I can take notes on my phone.” Yeah, yeah, see the above paragraph!
2.
What do I wear?
At RYC we want you to come and be comfortable. This isn’t a Sunday service so there is no need to dress up in a suit and tie or a dress. That being said, we also don’t want you to be dressed like you are headed to the beach! Dress in some nice casual clothes but don’t forget to dress modestly. Avoid wearing shirts that are low cut or easily seen through and wear shorts that come to your knees. Also, avoid wearing any clothes with lewd messages or profanity.
3.
Can I volunteer?

Absolutely. We are looking for adults to help us make this conference run smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering and helping us do that, please speak with your Pastor or the RISE representative from your church. You can also email us at riseyouthconference@gmail.com.
4.
How is RISE different from a regular Sunday at church?
RISE is designed to give you a lot of information over the course of several hours. It will be different from your Sunday service in many ways, but perhaps one of the most obvious ways is that you will be attending multiple services and hear multiple speakers. It will also be different in that it is designed specifically with young people in mind. We really want to take this opportunity to invest in the faith of our young people and help them to boldly live for Christ.
5.
