BREAKOUT SESSIONS

This year at RYC we will be giving you the opportunity to attend some sessions of your choice. We will have two time rotations during which you will be able to choose from some available sessions. These sessions will cover various topics all having to do with how we can embrace truth and grow our faith.

WHAT is it all about

This Year’s Theme: Why I Trust the Bible

"Yeah but the Bible isn’t true. Do you really believe that?” Perhaps you have heard statements like this when talking about your faith. There was a time when people trusted the reliability of the Bible almost without question, but that is no longer true in our society today. Almost everywhere you go you will hear the challenges to the reliability of Scripture, whether it is in your High Schools, Colleges, or even on social media. It seems that now more than ever people are beginning to lose trust in the Bible and question whether or not it is reliable.

The Bible itself tells us that it is inspired by God in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” Yet it seems that, even among Christians, the belief that the scriptures are inspired by God is on the decline. In a Gallup poll taken May 3-7, 2017 Lydia Saad wrote this:

“Over the past three decades, Americans' view of the Bible as the literal word of God has been declining, while their view that the Bible is a collection of fables, myths and history recorded by man has been increasing. The shift is most pronounced among young adults, indicating the trend is likely to accelerate in the years ahead.”

As Christians how do we respond to this growing distrust in the reliability of the Bible? If we want to base our lives on the teachings of the Bible, shouldn’t we trust it first? This year at the Rise Youth Conference our goal is to show that as Christians we have good reason to trust in the reliability of the Scriptures. Our goal is that at the end of the conference you will be able to walk away and say, “I can trust the teachings of Jesus and can confidently explain why I trust the Bible.
